Posted by on Jul 30, 2012 in Kosher |

Shlomo Walt posts on FB: There are at least 3 new kosher restaurants open this week in Pico-Robertson: Bocca Steakhouse, the Sand-which-bar and Pninat Hakeeem. Additionally Little Tel Aviv in Beverly Hills has good hashgacha and there is another one I recently saw but forgot where. Ok, so you all know I’m a kosher foodie obsessed with trying the newest kosher restaurants and food items but there is seriously a glut of Glatt places here! I really hope they all can survive. I miss Kiki’s Grill Kosher Indian food that closed in Valley Village. Now THAT would make a big splash here.

Kenneth Lowenstein posts on FB: Los Angeles Shmira Patrol were called regarding a possible hit and run. We called 911 immediately as we do not respond to medical emergencies. We decided to follow up and see what exactly was going on and find a black male lying in street Robertson and 18th. We then called police and it was later discovered that he had multiple stab wounds. This was now a crime scene. Our members staged on Airdrome by 7/11 and helped with traffic control. Our heart goes out to the victims family.

…Los Angeles Shmira Patrol hosted its 2nd community-wide Cpr/First Aid course. 15 new participants from the community signed up to learn and walk away with life saving skills and certifications. Afterwards Los Angeles Shmira Patrol gave a quick presentation about the “Patrol” and how people can get involved and support. We had a (Members Only Meeting) afterwards at Pizza Station. We discussed rules and regulations and protocols. We are currently operating communications through an app called “groupme”. Which allows message forwarding to all members joined in the specific group.

During our meeting we got a call for a disturbed person causing a problem at Pico Glatt Supermarket. 7 members responded in less than 120 seconds. We were able to make contact with the store owner and defuse the situation. We were applauded as we left the scene. Well job done..

This was a great lesson to our newest members on how we are active in our community for our fellow neighbors, store-owners, restaurants, etc. Supporting Shmira Patrol helps us help the community.

Checks can be written out to Los Angeles Shmira Patrol Incorporated.since Funds are needed for us to provide a professional service.

As of 07/22/2012 the patrol now consists of 26 active members. We have two minors with parental consent doing community service hours with our project. We welcome anyone that wants to help out with various projects. One project that we are working on is a “Religion Alliance”. We will actively request that all religious leaders such as Rabbis, Priests, etc work together on how to provide a safer community for its residents.

We will now be offering training classes for those interested. If you are interested in taking part in the self-defense course please contact us at lashmirapatrol@gmail.com

with this class you will also learn how to identify a suspect, what to do when a situation presents itself, and how to stay safe.

Los Angeles: On June 17, 2012, around 10:20 p.m., West Los Angeles patrol officers responded to a call of a ‘Man cutting himself with a knife” in the 1500 block of South Sherbourne Avenue. When the officers arrived, they saw the suspect was armed with a knife and was slashing his own throat.
