I rarely set foot in the Robertson branch of the LAPL without running into Orthodox Jews I know from shul.

'A Mouse In The Rabbi's Study'
The first-ever work of children’s book author Nancy Larner is now out on shelves and the Grand Lake Art Gallery is hosting a signing this afternoon.
“Grand County is such a magnificent place to live. For the past 12 years my husband Ken and I have felt so fortunate to be part-time residents here,” she said. “Our joy has been compounded by being able to share my first book with our friends, neighbors and visitors to the Grand Lake area.”

Kill Your Teacher.com
This is the new book from Rabbi Nachum Shifren.
He has the website KillYourTeacher.com:
Rabbi Nachum Shifren is a veteran language teacher, starting with Los Angeles Unified School District in 1991. He received his B.A. degree from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1985 for German Literature and Spanish. Aside from his academic duties, he serves as swim coach and surfing instructor. A veteran L.A. County beach lifeguard, he has been a Malibu Beach surfer since the early sixties. He is the founder of the Surf and Soul Program, working with youth groups and schools, teaching discipline, physical fitness, positive attitude through the sport of surfing. His autobiography, “Surfing Rabbi,” documents his growth as a young man in the turbulent 60’s, and his passionate love for teaching and surfing. Shifren presently teaches at the Environmental Charter High School in Lawdale, California as a Spanish teacher. He coaches swimming and surfing as well.

Here are some reviews on amazon.com:
Mitzvah Dude writes: "Rabbi Nachum Shifren exposes the bureaucratic stagnation that plagues the Los Angeles Unified School District. He documents instances of racism towards him, threats of violence, and the extreme application of PC politics. What is sad is that we have lost a talented teacher that truly cares about his students and actually brought standards and discipline to inner city schools."
