The Night Of Unity

Posted by on Feb 8, 2011 in JConnectLA |

Rabbi Yonah from JConnectLA.com:

The Scene at “LA’s Most Exciting Gala”

The Night of Unity is a truly unique event at the El Rey Theatre produced by Noah Flom, one of America’s top party-planners (his Super Bowl party was covered in the NY Times ), benefiting JConnect and Jewlicious.

Guests will enjoy delicious food, drinks and conversation, world-class entertainment that will make you want to leap to the dance floor, and inspiring change-makers and young people that are agents of positive progress in the Jewish world.

Guests to this year’s Night of Unity will be entertained by multiple world-class performers including Cousin Junebug, the leading classic funk band in LA, Naked Rhythm, described by Sting as “a great musical journey,” Yael Meyer, a rising Jewish star in the world of indie singer-songwriters, and other special guests.

Hors d’oeuvres and an open bar await all the guests as they arrive. The bar is stocked with the finest top-shelf liquor, wine, and beer. Take your drink over to the casino tables for some cards, dice or roulette. Stroll past the silent auction, where you can bid on a 5-star getaway to one of North America’s most exclusive resorts, rejuvenating spa treatments, exclusive memberships, a one-of-a kind pair of boxing gloves signed by the first ever Israeli world boxing champion Yuri Forman, and more.

The evening continues with special performances, a short tribute and awards ceremony, all followed by opulent desserts, more drinks, more music and more dancing.

Night Of Unity promises to be an unforgettable evening! Tickets are limited and onsale now!

Dear Friends,

From everyone at JConnectLA we wish you a JOYOUS and HEALTHY and HAPPY CHANUKAH / HANUKKAH / HONIKA!

There are tons of Chanukah activities in town this week – you can check out the Top Ten Chanukah Parties on our blog, courtesy of LA .

But the best is saved for last — Chanukah Electronica. You might have seen us featured yesterday on Good Day LA on Fox News. Mar Yvette plans on attendeding — will you be there?

This venue may sell out – so don’t wait till it’s too late. Limited Pre-Sale is going on now for just $8, plus ticket fee. Tickets are $18 at the door or $15 with a can of kosher food for the hungry. Click the picture below for tickets!

Let us pray for rain for Israel. A terrible fire is ravaging the north, wiping out homes and forests, something we in California understand too well. If you can, check out this Facebook page “Fire In Northern Israel, An Unprecedented Disaster” for ways that you can help. Our hearts and prayers go out to the 42 victims’ families and friends.

May we all be inspired by the Festival of Light to bring more light to the world.

Get High On The High Holidays With JConnectLA

Posted by on Sep 3, 2009 in JConnectLA |

Prepare yourself for a delicious, inspiring and friendly, participatory High Holiday experience with meaning, melody and humor. This year’s services are presented by JconnectLA in collaboration with Isralight-LA.

Our program will be led by Rabbi Yonah Bookstein with Rabbi Shlomo Seidenfeld, Cheston Mizel, Rachel Bookstein, and other guests!

‘Get High on The Holidays’ is being hosted by Young Israel of Beverly Hills, who have graciously provided their facilities for all our programming.

Start the New Year right on a good foot with food and friends. Our celebrations kick-off Friday, September 18, 2009 at 6:30pm with an entertaining and delicious Rosh Hashanah feast, highlighting special symbolic foods, round raisin challahs, honey, pomegranates, apples, dates, award winning brisket and other home-made delicacies.

Saturday & Sunday mornings, September 19 and 20th, at 9am, we will enjoy home-made honey-cake and coffee, and some Rosh Hashanah teachings before services start at 9:30am. The service itself is condensed, lively, and includes special break-out session for those that want to explore what the holidays mean to them. All levels and backgrounds are welcome. Hebrew reading skills are NOT required. We will only be blowing the Shofar on Sunday – so make sure to hear the call of the New Year!

Following services on both days, we will be treated to a sweet and delicious Kiddish.

We provide a Kiddie Minyan and childcare for children ages 1-13, from 10am until 1pm for an additional cost.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED – Space is limited!
Services free for full-time students.
